The steam engine is the name given to any engine that operates by transforming thermal energy into mechanical energy by expanding water vapor. Developed in the eighteenth century, its technology continued to be used and refined until the early twentieth century.

The First Transcontinental Railroad is the first rail line in the United States that has allowed rail transport, ie, the transportation of goods through locomotives.

Both the steam engine and the transcontinental railroad offered various advantages to traders and the general population. That's because the steam engine and the transcontinental railroad provided cheap and fast transportation, getting goods to the right place quickly and for a very low price. In addition to the low cost of transport, the volume of trade, that is, the market, has increased even more. Increased trade made it necessary to produce more, and thus the advances of industrialization became ever greater.
