The external conflict in “The Colomber” by Dino Buzzati
happens between Stefano and the Colomber. Most of the people included in this
story are commoners. Although it the story is near reality but there is
definite presence of fantasy as well. Magic realism is the term that is mostly
used to describe such type of stories. The twelve year boy Stefano Roi wanted
to go sailing with his father. It was something of a birthday gift for him.
Colomber is a fictitious or imaginative character that comes into existence
through the mind of the boy.
